More details
The quieter east coast
Kalafatis is a long, open bay on the east side of the island, known for windsurfing and for being calmer than the party beaches of the south. Agia Anna sits right next to it, with Lia further east and Kalo Livadi to the west. Houses here are spread out: holiday homes and villas scattered over the hills, a few hotels and tavernas near the beach, and plots where new homes are going up.
With houses this spread out, most properties rely on their own septic tank, cesspit or wastewater treatment unit. We empty them for owners and managers, provide regular service to rental villas, and empty the temporary tanks that building projects need while work is under way.

Long drives, dirt tracks and closed-up houses
The road to Kalafatis runs through Ano Mera, which is just up the road from our base, so this coast is closer for us than it is for companies based near Chora. The last part of the journey is often the hard part: many villas sit at the end of steep concrete ramps or unpaved tracks. Send us a pin and a short description of the access when you book.
Many homes here stand empty from October to spring. A tank that was not emptied before closing can cause trouble when the house reopens, and a house that sat empty may have a blocked or damaged line nobody noticed. We recommend an emptying at the end of the season and a quick check before the first guests in spring. In July and August, book early mornings to avoid beach traffic on the coast road.
Why owners on the east coast call us
We are a Mykonos family business working since 1995, and the east side of the island is practically our neighbourhood. For emergencies we normally reach Kalafatis within 1 to 2 hours. If you are abroad, we can arrange access with your caretaker or neighbour and send you a message when the job is done.
All waste goes to the licensed municipal wastewater treatment plant of Mykonos (DEYA Mykonou). Call or WhatsApp +30 693 673 2110 to book or to set up an end-of-season emptying.
Frequently asked questions
Who empties septic tanks in Kalafatis, Mykonos?
Metafores Lymaton Santorinaios empties septic tanks and cesspits in Kalafatis and along the east coast of Mykonos, from its base in Marathi. Call or WhatsApp +30 693 673 2110.
How fast can a sewage truck reach Kalafatis?
Kalafatis is reached through Ano Mera, close to our base in Marathi, so we usually get there within 1 to 2 hours for urgent calls. Steep or unpaved access can add a little time at the property itself.
Should I empty my holiday home's septic tank in Kalafatis before winter?
Yes, it is a sensible habit. Emptying the tank when you close the house in autumn, and checking it before you reopen in spring, avoids nasty surprises at the start of the season.
How much does it cost to empty a septic tank in Kalafatis?
The price depends on the tank volume, the access road, the hose length and whether the job is urgent, so we quote once we know the property.
Do you empty temporary tanks for construction projects near Kalafatis?
Yes. We empty temporary wastewater tanks for building projects on the east coast and can work to a regular schedule while the site is active.
