Septic tank emptying in Agios Sostis
Metafores Lymaton Santorinaios empties septic tanks and cesspits for the handful of properties around Agios Sostis, the unspoilt beach on the north coast of Mykonos next to Panormos, working from our base in Marathi. Some of these houses are reached by unpaved tracks, so we check the access with the owner before every first visit.

More details
One of the last undeveloped beaches
Agios Sostis is a quiet sandy beach on the north coast, just beyond Panormos, with a small whitewashed chapel above it that gives the beach its name. It has stayed largely undeveloped: there are no rows of sunbeds, and only a few buildings nearby, mostly private houses and a small number of holiday homes. Every one of them runs on its own septic tank or cesspit.
People choose Agios Sostis because it feels untouched, and they expect the same respect from anyone who works there. We treat each job as if it were on the sand itself: hoses and couplings checked before we start, no spills, lids closed properly, and the ground rinsed and left the way we found it.
Unpaved tracks and tight access
Some properties here are reached along dirt tracks rather than paved roads, and a fully loaded vacuum tanker is a lot heavier than a car. Before a first visit, it helps to send us:
- A location pin and a couple of photos of the track and the entrance
- Where the tank lid is, and whether it is buried or covered
- A gate code, or the number of someone who can open up
- Any warning signs you have noticed, such as slow drains or smells
Few houses, the same standard of service
If the truck cannot reach the house safely, we park on firm ground and lay out hose to the tank. In summer the road down towards Panormos and Agios Sostis gets busy with beach traffic and parked cars, so we aim to arrive early in the day, when the verges are clear and we can work without blocking anyone.
There may only be a few homes at Agios Sostis, but their owners get the same service as a large hotel. Once we have been to a property we know the route and the tank, so the next visit is quicker. Our family has emptied tanks across Mykonos since 1995, and every load goes to the licensed municipal wastewater treatment plant of Mykonos (DEYA Mykonou).
